Are your products safe?
In Switzerland, the same safety standards apply for machinery and many other products as in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). As a manufacturer, you are responsible for ensuring the safety of your products. Why is CE conformity required?
Within the EU and the EEA, products must fulfil certain essential requirements with regard to safety and health protection. Manufacturers confirm that these standards have been met with an EU declaration of conformity. What does a type examination certificate do?
A type examination checks and certifies that a product meets the essential requirements with regard to safety and health protection. For you as a manufacturer, this is a powerful selling point. After all, customers are paying more and more attention to safety when it comes to buying machinery.Legal regulations regarding product safety

You can rely on Suva’s extensive experience in CE conformity and safety standards. Your innovation coupled with our safety expertise is your guarantee of a successful product.
Why do manufacturers place their trust in us?
Although it is ultimately up to manufacturers to ensure product safety, there is always the option of having products voluntarily assessed by an accredited certification body. As manufacturers are responsible for every aspect of their products, confirmation from an independent body that they comply with the applicable directives and regulations provides additional security.

Assessing and reducing risks for machinery
The Machinery Directive stipulates that machine manufacturers must carry out a risk assessment and take measures to reduce any risks. One way of meeting this requirement is to follow the Suva method for the risk assessment of technical devices and equipment.
This method is based on the EN ISO 12100:2010 standard (Safety of machinery – General principles for design – Risk assessment and risk reduction).
Suva offers an Internet application and training seminars for implementing this method.
