      Description

If your employees are healthy and kept safe from accidents, your company will benefit. That is why there are legal foundations in place for you as an employer or safety officer.

The fulfilment of these duties is underpinned by several pillars:

      • Basic provisions:The employer must take all measures necessary based on relevant experience. These measures must be applicable in accordance with the latest technology and appropriate for the given circumstances. The basic provisions also stipulate that employees should be involved.
      • Duties of the employer: This involves implementing what is known as the Ordinance on the Prevention of Accidents and Occupational Diseases (APO).The employer's duties in this respect include organisation, communication and designing an appropriate work environment. Two examples of this are providing personal protective equipment and taking the necessary protective measures with regard to handling hazardous materials and radiation.
      • Duties of the employee:they too have an important role to play in making sure employees are protected. If employees fulfil their own duties, occupational accidents and diseases can be prevented and breaches of duty avoided.

In this brochure you will find further information and legal foundations relating to labour law, covering topics such as night work, PPE and occupational health screening.
